If you know us, you know reoccurent pregnancy loss is close to our hearts. We are so thankful to have Amy on the show. Amy courageously shares her seven pregnancy losses and how she had the courage to keep trying.
After two losses, Amy was diagnosed with stage 2-3 endometriosis and a uterine septum by her fertility clinic. She decided to undergo laparoscopic surgery to diagnosis and treat her endometriosis. During the surgery, they found one of her Fallopian tubes stuck together and did a “fibrioplasty“ to open the tube back up. At this time, she was 33 years old and her reproductive endocrinologist recommended IVF for embryo preservation. As she ramps up to start IVF, her clinic calls to stop her fertility treatment cycle due to 2020 COVID protocols.
For her first and only egg retrieval, they made 5 PGT normal embryos. She immediately got pregnant after her egg retrieval but unfortunately had a chemical pregnancy and immediately after that she had another chemical pregnancy. She talks about hiding her 4th loss from her husband and how her and her husband worked through that grief and communication.
At this point, Amy started looking into Reproductive Immunology — which only consist of five known clinics in the US. Amy walks us through what being a patient out of state at Derbola looks like.
Amy is constantly asked, how did you keep going? She share with us about how her desire for a baby continued to outweigh the heartbreak of loss after loss. Knowing the end goal was what kept them going.
