Episode 002: Exploring REI with Dr. Kathryn Snow

This week, we were thrilled to get to sit down and chat with Dr. Kathryn Snow, Reproductive Endocrinologist. Dr. Snow was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. She received her Masters in Health Administration from UNC Chapel Hill before pursing medical school at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond. From there, Dr. Snow completed her OBGYN residency at Mount Sinai in New York, New York where she met her future husband. After residency, Dr. Snow continued her training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Duke University before moving to Charleston, South Carolina and beginning her practice at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group (PREG).

During the episode, Dr. Snow touches on what a physician wants you to know before you walk through the doors of a fertility clinic, she describes what your first visit will look like, and discusses egg preservation (freezing). She is adamant about informing women to not wait around before gaining information about their fertility and health. We learn on the show that you do not need a referral to see a fertility specialist, so if you feel like something is off, book that appointment! One of the most interesting topics was on egg preservation for women who are not currently ready to try and have a baby. She speaks on the process and risk of egg freezing.
