Episode 012: Progyny Fertility and Family Planning Benefits with Amanda Lesesne
We sit down with Amanda to learn all about the comprehensive fertility and family planning benefits available through Progyny. In addition to Progyny, Amanda shares her very personal walk through infertility and IVF.
7 years of infertility
9 rounds of IVF
Diagnosed with Stage 3 Endometriosis between her 4th and 5th round of IVF- went to a specialist in NY (Resource Nancy Nook- “supporting you to understand endometriosis, advocate for your health, and get the best possible treatment”).
1 successful round that led to her daughter
Tips on being your own advocate in the workplace:
-Your voice really matters (speak up and speak to your employer about what you’re needing)
-If you do not feel comfortable speak with a co-worker maybe they feel more comfortable going to your employer and asking on your behalf anonymously.
Progyny also offers bereavement leave for couples going through a loss.
They do not believe you need to start at a lesser treatment first and then work you way up. Progyny believes it is between the patient and the provider to determine the best treatment plan for that patient. Which ultimately will get individuals pregnant faster*
Core belief at Progyny is there members have access to “Patient Care Advocate”- to place focus on mental health
People assume we have some control while going through fertility treatments but we all know that we do not. If you know someone who is going through a loss or fertility treatments. Best advice is ask how the person is versus asking about the treatments or the outcomes, etc.
